Legendary vertical of Château Gazin
An unusual vertical with depths and heights. 31 vintages of Château Gazin between 1924 and 2000, tasted by 18 wine enthusiasts.
The WineBarrel team is always on the lookout for special drops.
Younger Gazin wines convinced us by the attractive Pomerol assemblage with good value for money.
This has induced us to also collect older vintages. After a few months there were already 20 vintages in our cellar. The idea came up to taste the bottles with a few wine friends. Some time later more than 30 vintages had already accumulated, this was the time to announce the tasting. On 13 September 2018, 18 wine lovers met at the Hotel Arte in Olten for a legendary tasting. Due to the appreciated support of Baschi Schwander and a professional and entertaining appearance of our "butler" Gilbert Ernst the wines could be examined in five "flights".
A cleverly prepared duck liver with wild mushroom salad was served after the first two flights. The culinary part was rounded off by a wild boar chop with Bordeaux jus and pointed cabbage and a hazelnut parfait with wild berry ragout.
A detailed tasting note was created by Baschi and can be viewed on Mybestwine.
We would like to thank all visitors for their participation and positive feedback. This encourages us to organize more events in the future.
Many thanks to Baschi and Gilbert for their appreciated help.
